Church Service Hi Chrissie. I saw your ad but it was posted over 4 months ago now! If you are still interested there is a church in Icklesham. I atend a church in Rye which is a short drive away. Rye baptist church meets every Sunday morning at 10.45 am. They also have evening meetings, as well as mid week house group meetings. I hope this helps you! Let me know if you need to know more. |

Church Service Hiya, my name is Chrissie. I'm thinking about moving to Icklesham and work as an au pair. I would like to know if there is a church there at all. Thank you. |

Evacuation 1939 On 1st September 1939 I (aged 12), and 4 of my brothers an sisters were evacuated to Icklesham from Camberwell in London. We were split up, and I went with a couple called Sims. They would have been about 40 (could you judge anyone's age at 12?), and he was a shepherd. They lived in a cottage near the "big house", close to a railway stopping place called Snailham Halt. I have very happy memories of my stay with them: they were childless and I spent about six months there. I think my siblings may have stayed with relatives of theirs. I am now retired to Hove, and am hoping to visit the village during the summer. If anybody who reads this knows of the family I should be very grateful for a reintroduction. Thank you. |
